BN has high chances of winning in Meru

KLANG: A “wave of change” among voters, especially the Malays and Indians in Meru will help Barisan Nasional (BN) win in the coming 14th General Election (GE14) on Wednesday.

BN Meru candidate Khairul Anuar Saimun said the constituents have expressed their frustration and disappointment with the current representative and the state government.

“We saw a change among voters when we went to the ground to meet them and listen to their grouses. They really want a change in leadership and do not want to suffer the same fate for another 10 years (under PKR).

“PKR had failed to live up to its promises. The community has been living in difficulty for the past decade.

“Voters, in particular the Malays and Indians, want BN to return (to Meru and regain Selangor) to see positive changes. BN will work towards improving the socio-economic status of the people in the constituency.

“One more day to go before we face the big day (polling day), but I’m feeling calm because I know we have done our best. We have never abandoned the people and we promise to work hard to develop Meru,” he told reporters when met at the GE14 Media Centre at the Klang Information Department here today.

Khairul said if given the mandate in GE14, he would take immediate measures to combat two key problems affecting the community in Meru, namely, flash floods and bad road conditions.

He said the poor road conditions, with the many potholes have not only caused damage to vehicles, but had led to accidents and the loss of lives.

“BN had plans to resolve flash floods, but the plan did not take off when the state fell into the opposition’s hands. So, my focus will be to overcome these two issues.”

Khairul said he would spend the final 24 hours of campaigning by going down to the ground to meet with voters and to share his plans and goals for Meru.

“I am contesting as a candidate for GE14 for a reason, which is to bring change and development to Meru. Not for my personal gain. I hope BN will win on May 9,” he added.

Meru state constituency has a total of 39,091 voters, comprising 60.21 per cent Malay, 15.14 per cent Chinese, 23.98 per cent Indians and 0.38 per cent other races.

It will see a five-cornered fight in GE14. Khairul will face PKR’s Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mokhtar, PRM’s Manikavasagam Sundaram, Pas’ Noor Najhan Salleh, and independent candidate Shee Chee Weng.
