Rosmah : I did not interfere with government matters

PEKAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has rubbished claims that she interfered in government matters.

Rosmah said there were certain quarters that “attacked” her by throwing various allegations in an attempt to bring down Najib.

“I am aware of many allegations thrown by the other side (the opposition) that is causing the people to feel intimidated by me.

(But) I have never interfered with my husband’s affairs, especially in matters related to government administration,” Rosmah said here today at the Women Walk the World programme organised by Pekan Women’s Insitute.

Rosmah added as a wife it was her duty to take care of Najib and their household and she has never influenced Najib in making any decisions on government policies and affairs.

"Najib is the kind of person which always put the people's interests ahead of his interest. He always think about what he should do for the people, especially in Pekan.

Because of his busy schedule, sometimes he did not get to see me. My job is to take care of my husband, but he is busy thinking and caring for the people.

Sometimes, he even forgot about the children's matters but he is aware of people’s problems in Pekan and will do his best to solve it,” she said.

Present at the programme was Pekan Women’s Insitute chairman Datuk Melati Ali.

Meanwhile, Rosmah said women were the backbone of their families and the country's development, hence this year was declared as Women Empowerment Year.

“In the recently launched Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto, it has pledged to simplify the microcredit credit requirements for women entrepreneurs as well as to set up a transformation center to help them widen their business network.

“In fact, a Women's Cooperative will also be established to offer savings and loan financing facilities. It shows that the BN-led government appreciates the contribution given by women,” she said.
