AMPANG: Independent candidate Azwan Ali, or Diva AA, who was contesting the Bukit Antarabangsa state seat only managed to secure 90 votes.
The five-cornered battle saw Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali retaining his seat with a 25,512 majority-vote.
This was announced by Ampang returning officer Abd Hamid Hussain.
Azmin defeated Barisan Nasional’s Salwa Yunus securing 30,892 votes against her 5,380 votes, while Sharifah Hazlizah Syed Ariffin of Pas only had 2,311 votes and Ahmad Kamarudin (PRM -116).
Azwan, when contacted, said he had done his best and he accepted the mandate by the people. He also said the Election Commission had done its job responsibly and the people should not question the outcome.
