KJ expresses hope for smooth transition of power

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin wrote a heartfelt message on his social media accounts today, touching on the coalition’s defeat as well as Malaysia’s new beginning.

The people have chosen, he said, stating that the clear and obvious choice here was for change.

On his Facebook page, Khairy said power transitions should take place smoothly without any attempts to deny the people’s voice.

As a leader of Umno and BN, he said he has done all he can to give the best to Malaysians.

“This party and its members have served the people and the country for over 60 years - all the shortcomings come from us, the leaders.

“This defeat is a clear message from the people that Umno and BN must reflect on ourselves before charting the next move forward,” he said.

In going forward, Khairy said they need to become a better political movement which always puts the people’s interests first, beyond everything else, because the people and its grassroot members were the pulse of the party.

My first love is to Malaysia and its people, he said.

“I am very grateful for the mandate given by the people of Rembau and will continue to work hard to develop my area.

“Sorry and thank you, Malaysia. Let’s put our differences aside for a better Malaysia from today onwards.

“For a Malaysia that is competitive, modern and fair, with the people as its pulse,” he said.

On his Instagram, Khairy shared a message for the new government and their ministers, reminding them to look after 'this blessed nation of ours'.

"Every inch of its land is worth fighting for.

"I will hold you accountable oon behalf of our people as a member of the opposition. Just as you did previously," he added.
