PAS to discuss hung assembly in Kedah

KUALA TERENGGANU: PAS will hold a special meeting very soon to discuss the hung state assembly situation in Kedah following the outcome of the 14th General Election (GE14).

Its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the meeting would also discuss the cooperation with either the opposition pact in PKR or Barisan Nasional (BN).

According to him, the party would hold an internal discussion first, before proceeding with the talks with PKR or BN.

Of the 36 state seats contested in Kedah, PKR won 18, PAS (15) dan BN (3).

“We (PAS) are the ‘king maker’ at state level. We will discuss the matter in the special meeting. Godwilling, we will invite PAS Central leadership as soon as possible to discuss.

“We have to look at all parties, not just BN but PKR as well. The collaboration will have to conform with our concept and policy,” he said.

He was speaking at a Press conference after the appointment and swearing in ceremony of the new menteri besar and 10 PAS exco members before Sultan Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin at Istana Syarqiyyah, Chendering here, last night.

At the event, Ru Rendang assemblyman Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar took his oath as the 15th Menteri Besar of Terengganu. PAS is taking over the state administration for the third time, following its defeat of Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th General Election (GE14).
