Musa Aman has not resigned, press sec says he's still the rightful Chief Minister

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Tan Sri Musa Aman has not resigned as the state’s Chief Minister.

Press secretary Afeiza Khan has confirmed his status in a statement here.

“Please note that nothing has changed. Tan Sri Musa Aman has not resigned. He is still the rightful Chief Minister,” she said.

The statement was issued following newly installed Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s call to Musa today to resign after losing the confidence of a majority of the assemblymen.

Shafie, who is also Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president, had also said that there are two possibilities of outcomes in the political scenario in Sabah.

The first, he said, is to dissolve state assembly and the second, Musa has to resign.

Musa, who has been a Chief Minister since 2004, was sworn in on Thursday before the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin when BN and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) secured simple majority of 31 out of 60 state seats.

However, six BN assemblymen later switched sides and joined the Warisan-Pakatan Harapan pact, thus increasing the coalition’s seats from 29 to 35.
