PPBM hoping for its rep in Penang exco line-up

GEORGE TOWN: The state government is urged to appoint at least one of its representatives in the executive councillor line-up from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).

Telok Bahang assemblyman Zolkifly Md Lazim said this was to ensure PPBM was given a chance to highlight the views of the people while creating a balanced line-up in the state administration.

“I hope at least one PPBM representative can be appointed so as to create a balanced representation,” he said.

In the 14th General Election (GE14), 19 DAP candidates won the state seats followed by 14 from PKR and two each for PAN and PPBM.

DAP assemblymen were appointed as the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister II and the six executive councillor posts.

PKR on the other hand only gets Deputy Chief Minister I and two executive councillor posts while none was given for PAN and PPBM assemblymen, a matter which was also raised by PKR’s Penanti assemblyman Dr Norlela Ariffin.

Following that, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said a reshuffle was possible if there was a need, but there was no need at the moment.

Zolkifly said he would discuss the matter with PPBM leaders if the state government failed to appoint at least one PPBM assemblyman.
