Government coalition party members told not to interfere in Umno elections

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Strategic Unit warns other political party members to stop interfering in the Umno Election process which will take place on June 30.

In a press statement today, it said it wants government leaders to stop giving statements that could cause the party members to get pitted against one another.

“Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement on who is more qualified to lead Umno is described as being a ‘busy body’. Umno has never tried to interfere in the Pakatan Harapan’s internal issues.

“Is he (Dr Mahathir) having grudge against Umno which he once led for 22 years?” the statement asked.

The statement also slammed Lim Kit Siang and former International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, who, it claimed, had other issues.

“Umno feels this intervention attempt is aimed at slandering the party that has been fighting for the struggles of Malays all this time.

“They (PH) should remember that individually, Umno won 54 seats in the previous General Election which proves that Umno is able to stand alone without any coalition such as Barisan Nasional or PH.”

The statement also said PH was not a strong party coalition.

“Are they brave enough to break the coalition and face Umno one on one,” it said.

The statement also told PH members to stop acting like a ‘King Maker’ by trying to tell Umno members who should lead the party.
