IPOH: Perak Menter Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said today the decision whether to accept applications from Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) members to join Perak Parti Peribumi Bersatu (PPBM) rests with the party’s top leaders.
He said it was crucial to follow the procedures set by the party’s top leaders to process the application and the decision should not be made by the state-level.
“At the state PPBM level, if we receive an application to become PPBM member, we will let the top leaders decide,” he said.
Ahmad Faizal who is also state PPBM chairman said this during a press conference after attending Hari Raya Open House with Pakatan Harapan in Tanjung Rambutan here today.
He was also commenting on the former Bagan Serai member of parliament Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali who wished to join PPBM after quiting from Umno today.
“I have never contacted him and I do not know about his decision to depart from Umno.
“I would like to say thanks to him for supporting me as a Menteri Besar as well as the government,” he said.
It was reported today that Dr Noor Azmi announced his departure from BN and that he will become an independent representative and throw his support behind the federal government led by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad; and the state government, led by Ahmad Faizal.
