DAP's Ng Suee Lim named Selangor state legislative assembly Speaker

SHAH ALAM: Sekinchan assemblyman Ng Suee Lim has been appointed the Speaker of the first term of the 14th Selangor state legislative assembly.

Ng of DAP was proposed by Sungai Tua assemblyman Amirudin Shari, who is the state menteri besar, and was supported by Bandar Baru Klang assemblyman Datuk Teng Chang Khim.

Ng then proposed Paya Jaras assemblyman Khairuddin Othman of PKR as deputy Speaker. This was supported by Kota Kemuning assemblyman V. Ganabatirau.

Earlier, 55 of 56 assemblymen, including four representatives from Barisan Nasional and one from Pas, took their oath.

Sungai Kandis assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei was not present due to health reasons.

The swearing-in ceremony commenced with the taking of oath by Amirudin.

It was followed by 10 state executive councillor members namely Teng, Ganabatirau, Batu Tiga assemblyman Rodziah Ismail, Seri Serdang assemblyman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, Pandan Indah assemblyman Izham Hashim and Lembah Jaya assemblyman Haniza Talha.

The subsequent ones were Selat Klang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari, Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han, Seri Setia assemblyman Shaharuddin Badaruddin and Kajanga assemblyman Hee Loy Sian.
