Kelulut honey secret to my health - Zawawi

SHAH ALAM: Kelulut honey has always been Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni’s choice health elixir to accommodate his active lifestyle.

The PKR candidate for Sungai Kandis said a tablespoon a day - with a mixture of some "secret ingredients"- was more than enough to give him the energy needed for his daily affairs.

Kelulut honey is produced by stingless bees.

“In order to stay active, fit and maintain my stamina, I consume a tablespoon of kelulut honey every morning and before bed.

“It is mixed with some secret ingredients, which I cannot reveal,” he said in jest when asked on his campaign preparations for the Sungai Kandis by-election on Aug 4.

Zawawi also said he makes it a point to exercise for at least 10 minutes a day.

He said working around-the-clock was not something new to him, having spent most of his time outdoors working with non-governmental organisations since in his 20s.

“We (Zawawi and his wife) have been involved with NGOs for a long time. I am rarely at home because I spend most of my time on the ground with the rakyat. But I also make time for my family.

Zawawi said during his time as a teacher, he practised what he preached by becoming a good leader.

“I was involved in the education field for long. I have developed a module aimed at preparing the future generation that not only focuses on memorising the Al-Quran but also focuses on character-building and leadership.

“I will practise what I have learned from the Quran regarding leadership and how to play my role as a leader in politics.”

The Sungai Kandis seat was left vacant following the death of Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei on July 2 due to lymphoma.

In the GE14, Mat Shuhaimi garnered 23,998 votes, defeating Umno’s Datuk Kamaruzzaman Johari (11,518 votes), Pas’s Mohd Yusof Abdullah (7,573 votes) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hanafiah Husin (76 votes).
