Vote, don't take things for granted - Selangor MB tells Sg Kandis voters

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has reminded voters not to take for granted PKR's incumbency in the Sungai Kandis constituency.

He said there was a possibility that some voters might not cast their votes on polling day as they were confident of PKR's chances in retaining the state seat, which became vacant after the death of its assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei on July 2.

Amirudin, who is also PKR's election director for the Sungai Kandis by-election said the people should continue to provide support for the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

"Although (he results of) this by-election might not change anything (or lead to significant outcome), we must not take it for granted and consequently made a mistake (by not going out to vote)," Amirudin said at the launching of the PKR main operation centre in Jalan Bukit Kemunting today.

Also present were Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Dr Xavier Jayakumar and PKR's candidate for Sungai Kandis, Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni.

Amirudin also denied claims by the opposition that the Selangor state government had only carried out development projects during elections.

"Do not fall for such claims. We have implemented many projects including upgrading drainage and other infrastructures (continuously).

"On Barisan Nasional-Pas apparent political cooperation in the by-election, Amirudin said he was open to the matter which is inline with democratic practices.
