It's on: Anwar to contest PKR presidential post

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will contest the presidential post in the party’s leadership elections.

It is learnt that PKR strategic director Sim Tze Tzin submitted Anwar’s nomination form earlier today at the PKR headquarters.

His nomination was proposed by PKR President Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Anwar has been speaking of his intention to run for the top position – which is currently held by his wife Wan Azizah – for several weeks now.

Meanwhile, former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli has submitted his form to vie for the deputy presidential post, which is currently held by Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Over 900,000 PKR members will be eligible to vote in the party polls through an electronic balloting system starting next month.

Meanwhile, as at 11.44am, two candidacy forms for PKR Youth (AMK) chief post had also been sent in.

They were from Johor Baru MP Akmal Nasir and Kota Anggerik assemblyman, Najwan Halimi.

Melaka PKR deputy Youth chief Naqiuddin Nazrin had also submitted his form to vie for the deputy AMK post.

PKR Wanita vice chief Dr Daroyah Alwi also put in her form to contest for the party’s Wanita deputy chief post.

The nomination process for PKR’s party elections began at 10am at PKR headquarters here today.
