Pas's Syura Council to establish party strategies, determine direction: Hadi

KUALA NERUS: Pas’s Ulama Syura Council will henceforth formulate the party's political strategies and principles based on current challenges, and ensure that they remain relevant.

Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said this is to ensure that the party does not lose sight of its struggles, policies, principles and direction.

He said Pas’s struggle will continue to be based on Islamic principles to prepare it for the country’s ever-changing political and social landscape.

The Islamic principles include Fiqh Muwazanah (consideration); Fiqh Waqie’ (stand); Fiqh Aulawiyyat (priority); and Fiqh Ma’alat (implications of principles).

“The Ulama Syura Council and Pas Central Committee must continue to fight to uphold our principles and stand,” Abdul Hadi said during his policy speech titled “Islamic Leadership” at the 64th Pas Muktamar here today.

He also said that Pas will reject confrontational and aggressive approaches to win the hearts of supporters.

“Pas will continue to be honest in projecting Islam and will not be influenced by those who are too weak to uphold Islam or those approaching it without wisdom,” he said.

Abdul Hadi also emphasised that Pas is willing to cooperate with any political party under the Taawun (helping one another) approach in Islam, which is applicable in a multi-cultural and religious society.

“The objective here is to find similarities and address differences, as well as rejecting attempts to create disunity – even if it takes a long time,” he added.

Meanwhile, for the first time in a Pas assembly, Umno representatives, led by president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and MIC deputy president Datuk SK Devamany were present and welcomed by delegates with enthusiastic applause.
