Possible for Musa Aman to follow in his brother's footsteps, says Bung Moktar

SANDAKAN: Sabah Umno deputy liaison chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin did not deny the possibility of several elected representatives from Umno exiting the party.

Bung Moktar, when contacted by NSTP, also did not rule out the possibility of former Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman following the footsteps of his younger brother Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, who confirmed quitting Umno today.

He said the sudden move by the Kimanis MP and Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, who was Kelantan Umno liaison committee chairman, were shocking as they had a good position in Umno.

“I’m not surprised by this situation (leaders exiting the party) but I was shocked because those leaving the party’s struggles are the ones who have been given a good place in the party.

“There’s a possibility (Musa may make a departure from Umno too),” he said without commenting further.

However, the Kinabatangan MP said the departure of several leaders would not bring major impact on the party’s struggles.

Bung Moktar believed the challenges that came following Umno’s defeat in the 14th General Election (GE14) may be among the factors driving several leaders to take a move in their own interests.

When asked whether he would also leave Umno, Bung Moktar stressed he would remain fighting with Umno as long as he lives.

Meanwhile, Beluran MP Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee, when contacted, refused to comment on the decision made by Anifah.
