Johor PKR delegate labels Umno as 'parti tahi'

SHAH ALAM: A PKR delegate from Johor today called on the party to not become a 'parti tahi' like Umno.

Using a quote from Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Yasharudin Kosni said PKR should never turn itself into Umno.

"I would like to quote Mohamad; who recently said that blow flies (langau) are flying away from Umno.

"Do you know what blow flies are and what they are attracted to? It seems like (indirectly) that the former Negri Sembilan menteri besar has acknowledged that Umno is a 'parti tahi'.

"(And) we do not want these blow flies to fly into our party (PKR). Therefore, we should never take in these blow flies and give way to them. We should not make our party to be a 'parti tahi' like Umno," he said in his motion to support the party president's policy speech at the 13th PKR National Congress, here, today.

Last Sunday, Mohamad in a special meeting with Melaka Umno was quoted as saying that all the blow flies have "left the party (Umno)", since they do not have anything to suck on.

Yasharudin in his speech also called on PKR leaders not to simply accept new members into the party.

"Not necessarily these new members are of good quality as well as aware of the party's struggles.

"We cannot guarantee that their presence in this party can sustain our success.

"Umno was proud of its three million members, yet they suffered defeat in the last general election."

The two-day congress, which was launched by outgoing party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail this morning, saw an attendance of over 2,000 delegates from all over the country.

Among those present were the incoming party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, incumbent deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, DAP national chairman Tan Kok Wai, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu.
