PKR man to Dr M: Where are we headed?

SUNGAI PETANI: No proper planning and lack of a clear direction towards a new Malaysia (Malaysia Baharu) are two reasons why the people are beginning to get frustrated with the Pakatan Harapan-led Federal Government.

Kedah PKR chairman Datuk Johari Abdul said the failure to understand the concept of a new Malaysia has resulted in the government repeating mistakes made by the previous administration.

"If you ask Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) members what is 'Malaysia Baharu', they don't understand what it is.

"If the intention is to bring Najib down, Najib has been brought down. Now we have no idea where we are headed," he said, referring to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"We then repeat what the rakyat does not like. That is not helping. What is said by Lim Kit Siang (DAP adviser) has its truth, when we spend 20 years fighting Barisan Nasional (BN), we need to know what is to be done now," he said when contacted by NSTP, here, today.

Johari said this when asked to comment on Lim's remark that DAP would have no hesitation in leaving the coalition government if the objective of a New Malaysia was abandoned.

Johari who is also Sungai Petani MP said after Najib was brought down, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad appeared to not know what to do, instead spending time going overseas.

"Tun is repeating the same speech that Najib was a thief. Enough, he has been charged in court, let the court decide.

"(He should) say something more positive, but he is not. The rakyat is wondering what is next. The rakyat wants something more progressive but they can't see a clear direction," Johari said.

Commenting further, Johari said he was not sure if the prime minister has forgotten, or does not care or that no one was advising him.

"Anwar can't intervene because he is an outsider," Johari said referring to PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"Kak Wan (Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail - deputy prime minister) has her limits.

"In this case, the Prime Minister must make a decision. Do something so the rakyat will not be disappointed anymore," he said.
