More calls for review of new PKR appointments

SHAH ALAM: Two more PKR leaders have called for a review of the new appointments made to the party's leadership by president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

PKR Youth's vice chief Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus in a joint statement with the party's women's wing vice chief Sangeetha Jayakumar stated their stand that the appointments must be based on transparent democracy, must be fair and in line with the aspirations of the grassroots.

"The rakyat's win in the 14th General Election (GE14) demands for us to ensure a government that is stable, that is a result of a strong, inclusive and mature political organisation.

"PKR has a significant responsibility of driving Pakatan Harapan (PH). We must be humble and realise that the voices of our members and the grassroots should be made priority in a bid to strengthen the party.

"The recent PKR polls were a referendum from the members who clearly stated their aspirations on the type of leadership and future of the party that they wish to have," the statement read.

Following that, Mohd Nazree and Sangeetha called on all in the party to continue to uphold PKR's principles and ideals for the sake of its members' unity and togetherness.

The statement came after PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali voiced his opinion on the appointments which he deemed as not portraying a fair and just representation of its members' aspirations.

Mohamed Azmin had said that the appointments announced did not help PKR move forward, and called for Anwar to review the matter.

Anwar yesterday announced several appointments to the party's leadership line-up which included defeated deputy president candidate Rafizi Ramli who has been returned to the post of party vice president.
