Before deciding on Wahab's fate, PKR to wait for more evidence

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR will wait for further proof to surface before deciding what's next for the embroiled fellow Hulu Langat Youth deputy chief Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani over his involvement in an allegedly "doctored" viral clip.

PKR Youth (AMK) deputy chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim told the New Straits Times that the party would take the appropriate measures and give Wahab the chance to defend himself.

"As of now, no reports have been received. However, suppose there is a report with substantial evidence of violating party regulations and discipline. In that case, the appropriate process will be initiated, and he will be allowed to explain," he briefly said.

Earlier today, it was reported that authorities had initiated an investigation into a viral video allegedly implicating former Community Communications (J-KOM) Department director-general Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff.

The case, according to Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, had been handed over to the federal police's Criminal Investigations Department (CID), led by Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

A clip of Agus and Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani's conversation of a sexual nature went viral recently, just hours after the J-KOM chief confirmed his resignation.

Both of them had denied the video's authenticity, claiming that the audio had been doctored by someone they identified as Mr. H.

Abdul Wahab, also a staff member at J-KOM, claimed he was lured by Mr H through promises of positions in the government if he was willing to frame Agus.

He claimed that he was instructed to record a video conversation with Agus to obtain evidence of Agus' involvement in immoral and illicit activities.
