Azmin and Rafizi should play their roles well to ensure harmony in PKR

PERMATANG PAUH: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and vice-president Rafizi Ramli should carry out their responsibilities well to maintain harmony in the party.

PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin said while harmony in PKR was in the hands of party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, both Azmin and Ali should be aware of their roles and not cause any disruptions.

Asked if she agreed with claims by political analyst that either one should take a back seat to ensure continuous harmony in the party, Zuraida said: “The party’s harmony is in the hands of the party president. If the president feels that what he did can ensure harmony, then that's how it is.”

Azmin recently disputed the PKR leadership line up after Rafizi, who lost to him for the party deputy presidency, was named by Anwar as the vice-president.

The Economic Affairs Minister had urged Anwar to review the appointments to which the latter declined. Anwar defended the appointments saying it reflect inclusiveness in PKR.

To another question if “two captains inside a vessel” may rock the vessel, Zuraida said the winner and the loser during the recent PKR party elections should know their position well.

“Both (Azmin and Rafizi) have to understand their roles and play them well,” she added.

Zuraida who is also the Housing and Local Government Minister said that Azmin's claim that he was heading a movement to leave the party was just hearsay.

She was also unsure about talks that PKR members had allegedly met to discuss the candidates for the prime minister’s post, and asked that the polemic on the issue be stopped.
