Long live 'Malaysia Baharu', says KJ on two Bersatu division chiefs in YPJ board

KUALA LUMPUR: ‘‘At least cover lah sikit jawatan politik tu.’’

Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin this morning took to criticising the Johor Education Foundation (YPJ) following the appointment of two Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) division chiefs to its board of directors.

What ticked the former Youth and Sports minister off was that on YPJ's website, both leaders were identified by their Bersatu posts.

"Pelantikan lembaga baharu Yayasan Pelajaran Johor. At least cover lah sikit jawatan politik tu. Letak lah jawatan NGO kangkung mana-mana pun. Ni dah tak kisah nak cover, dah tak segan. Parti menguasai kerajaan! Hidup Malaysia Baharu!", Khairy posted.

(The appointment of the new board for the Johor Education Foundation. At least cover your political positions. Just display your position in some non-governmental organisation (NGO). They don't seem to care about covering anymore, they are not ashamed. Party conquers the government. Long live Malaysia Baharu.)

His comment was attached to an earlier tweet by Twitter user @MadiAzmadi who shared a screenshot of the new board of directors, which included Johor Bharu Bersatu division chief Zais Mohd Akil and Tanjung Piai Bersatu division chief Karmaine Sardini.

The same Twitter user also shared a screenshot of the board on YPJ's website later, in which he remarked they had removed the two mentions of Bersatu division chiefs.

In an older screenshot, Zais and Karmaine's positions as Bersatu division chiefs were included, however in a more recent screenshot, the two were only identified as "YPJ Board member".

"Cepat Yayasan Pelajaran Johor tukar dalam website. Sekarang dah bukan 'Ketua Bahagian PPBM'," he wrote. (That was very quick of YPJ to change it in their website. It no longer says 'Bersatu division chief.)

This prompted Khairy to remark, "Terlebih transparent tadi." (They were overly transparent earlier.)

Checks by NST Online found that the Board of Directors page could not be accessed as at press time, with a network error message returned.

Cached view of the page as it appeared yesterday showed the older view in which the two were described as Bersatu division chiefs.
