Semenyih by-election: PH candidate to focus on local issues

KAJANG: Muhammad Aiman Zainali wants to focus on local issues and believes such a campaign strategy will win him votes.

The 30-year old Pakatan Harapan candidate, who is vying for the Semenyih state seat, also expressed confidence that his local links are an added advantage.

“I am focusing on local issues in order to help the Semenyih residents. I let the party top leaders address national-level issues,” Muhammad Aiman told a media conference after he was announced as one of the four candidates running for the state seat.

Among the issues include traffic congestion, flash floods, and limited hospitals and petrol stations.

“The Semenyih residents here are my friends. So there is no problem for me in interacting with them.

“I am involved in a number of community work as well. So if I am to be compared with my rivals who may possess more political experience, I can say that I do not have problems with the locals here,” Muhammad Aiman said.

He is contesting against Barisan Nasional’s Zakaria Hanafi, 58, Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul, 25, and independent candidate Kuan Chee Heng 56.

The Semenyih by-election was called after the death of the state seat incumbent Bakhtiar Mohd Nor from PH, on Jan 11 due to a heart attack.

Bakhtiar was Muhammad Aiman’s father-in-law.

Polling has been fixed on March 2.
