SEBERANG JAYA: DAP will wait for Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang to respond to the claim that he told Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, wrote and signed, that the Islamist party would not be assisting Umno in the Semenyih by-election.
Its secretary general Lim Guan Eng, however, was not surprised that Hadi could have made such declaration.
“If it is true, then it is not a surprise because they have been flip-flop on the matter many times before.
“So let us wait what Hadi will say,” he said at a press conference after the Penang Royal Customs Department Chinese New Year celebration held here today.
Yesterday, Mahathir claimed that Pas had decided against lending its support to Umno in the Semenyih by-election.
This was conveyed to him by the Islamist party leader at Yayasan Al-Bukhary on Friday.
Hadi remained tight-lipped till today and even avoided the media recently after closing the Ijtimak Siber programme in Cukai, Kemaman, yesterday.
