Scion emerges: Hadi's son elected to Pas's central committee

KUANTAN: Pas President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang's son, Mohd Khalil, was elected as a party central committee member during its muktamar (congress) here, today.

In announcing the results, party elections committee director Dr Fuad Salleh said Mohd Khalil finished top among the 28 leaders elected to the committee. He garnered the highest number of votes at 956, followed by Dr Azman Ibrahim (947 votes) and Dr Halimah Ali (943 votes).

He said that 1,136 out of 1,230 delegates who were eligible to vote had cast their ballots.

Meanwhile, Datuk Iskandar Samad, who had refused to contest the vice-president post, was elected with 856 votes.

Nik Abduh Nik Aziz, the son of Pas's late spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat, also made the cut after obtaining 781 votes.
