PM: Sex video political move to bring down Azmin

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has called the dissemination of a sex video allegedly implicating Datuk Seri Azmin Ali a political move to bring down the economic affairs minister.

The Pakatan Harapan chairman said it was not merely a criminal offence, but a political game.

“I see this as a political move, not because of crime.

“The crime is that there is a coalition to bring down Azmin,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.”

Asked about PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement that Azmin should go on leave, Dr Mahathir said it depended on the authenticity of the video.

“He (Anwar) said if it is true... if it is authentic, then yes (Azmin should go on leave).

“But, he (Anwar) did not say (Azmin has to go on leave) now,” he said.

The prime minister also questioned the credibility of former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Aziz, who had confessed that he was one of the two men in the sex video.

“This person (Haziq) admitted (his involvement). This is what we find weird.

“Normally, this kind of person will go into hiding, because they are ashamed.

“But, but this one, he is not ashamed.”
