Syed Husin is jealous of Dr M, says Azmin

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has slammed fellow party leader Syed Husin Ali, saying he was jealous of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The Gombak member of parliament was responding to Syed Husin’s allegation that he wanted to form a new party following his tussle with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“That is Syed Husin’s opinion. He has been in politics for decades and couldn’t make any impact.

“Maybe he is jealous of Dr Mahathir who has the support of Malaysians.

“I was elected by PKR members and won the previous party election with a majority.

“Unless there are people who are jealous of me, I will continue to stay in the party,” Azmin told reporters at the Parliament lobby here today.

On Oct 9, Syed Husin, who is PKR advisory board deputy chairman, had claimed that Azmin was working on three plans — join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, join Gerakan and form a new party.

Azmin, who is economic affairs minister however, said he would remain in PKR as he was mandated by party members to stay as deputy president.

Syed Husin who is also a PKR political bureau member claimed that he hadpersonal knowledge that Azmin was serious about setting up a new party.

He was referring to the series of events that took place in June after the circulation of a sex video which allegedly implicated a person who resembled Azmin.

However, PKR leaders close to Azmin have denied that he was planning to set up a new party.
