Perak MB urged to explain 'lone battle against DAP' remark

TELUK BAHANG: DAP has called on Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu to clear the air over his recent statement that he was involved in a “lone battle” against the party in his state.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said Faizal’s remark as seen in a viral video was difficult to accept.

He said what was said in the video was not true and baseless.

“As Perak menteri besar, he needs to redeem himself for what he has said.

“If what mentioned in the video is not true, then he must provide explanation.

“We do not want it to turn into a narative for the opposition,” he told the press at the opening of Escape Theme Park Phase 3 here today.

Social media was abuzz yesterday when a six-minute 27-second video surfaced showing Faizal talking with the public.

It is believed that the video was filmed during campaigning in Tanjung Piai as Pakatan Harapan’s by-election candidate Karmaine Sardini is present in the video. A man who was speaking to both Faizal and Karmaine allegedly said he did not vote for Pakatan Harapan in the last General Election, and expressed his disappointment at the ruling coalition.

Faizal allegedly responded by saying that he was in a lone fight with DAP factions in Perak as he wanted to defend the Malays and their religion.

Lim said Faizal’s remark could shake the harmony of Pakatan Harapan in the Perak government.

“It is difficult to accept, especially from a friend who spoke (in the video) like a foe.

“Whenever I meet him, he has been open to me and never complained of such things.

“What happened is out of the ordinary.

“Now, he has to redeem himself to recover the spirit of solidarity in Pakatan Harapan,” Lim said.
