Amendment, revocation of PKR sacking to be discussed after party congress

KUALA LUMPUR: Any amendment or review of decisions involving party issues should be discussed and decided at the PKR Central Leadership Council (MPP) meeting.

Such matters should not be discussed or decided outside the scope of the policy making body, said PKR Disciplinary Board Chairman Datuk Ahmad Kassim.

He said neither he nor party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had made any unilateral decision in regards to the dismissal involving party members, rather the matter was decided upon collectively by the MPP.

Despite the position taken, Ahmad nevertheless accepted a memorandum signed by 20 PKR leaders submitted earlier in the day.

The memorandum called for Bera PKR division chief Zakaria Abdul Hamid dismissal to be revoked as the party leaders rejected the dismissal, saying the move was invalid as it did not undergo due process.

The memorandum also called for party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to apologise over the sacking of Zakaria and party member Ismail Dulhadi.

The duo were sacked by the MPP after it found them to be involved in corrupt practices during party elections last September.

The memorandum was signed by Deputy PKR President Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and 19 other PKR central committee members. The others are vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin, Tian Chua, Haniza Mohamed Talha, Hilman Idham, Dr Daroyah Alwi, Amiruddin Shaari, Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, Sivarasa Rasiah, Rahimah Majid, Elizabeth Wong, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, Zakaria Abdul Hamid, Radzlan Jalaluddin, Datuk Dr Mansor Othman, Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar, Azmizam Zaman Huri, Gan Pei Nei, Hee Loy Sian and Datuk Seri R Santhara Kumar.

Ahmad said the contents of the memorandum would be studied in detail by the PKR Disciplinary Committee before its submits proposals on the matter at the next MPP meeting which was likely to take place after the PKR National Congress between Dec 6 and 7.

“The matter to decided would be a MPP decision, it will not be a decision by the party’s Disciplinary Committee or the PKR President but through the MPP meeting which will take place after the congress next week.

“Our organisation’s culture is that in order to review any decision, it should be done so in a meeting. What this means is that a decision which is taken collectively cannot be overruled by the disciplinary committee chairman.

“Whatever it is, I welcome the memorandum submitted to the Disciplinary Committee Chairman. I will discuss this at the meeting of the Disciplinary Committee as well as submit at the next (MPP ) meeting,” he said.

Ahmad also called on all the 20 party leaders mentioned in the memorandum to attend the MPP to be held after the PKR National Congress to state their views over the issue.

He specifically urged Azmin to attend the MPP and not sulk and stay from party meetings. Allah ... what are you upset with so long?

“If you do not attend, how will we discuss this, especially the deputy president (Azmin). Please, come (attend) the meeting,

If (Azmin) does not attend, there will be problems. How do we discuss this. Please attend. The Disciplinary Committee Chairman urges you (Azmin) to attend the meeting so that you can defend your memorandum,” Ahmad said.
