Political crisis: Day 5

WILL Malaysia's political turmoil see a resolution reached today? As the crisis enters Day Five, it is learned that Interim Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will have an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at 11am today.


Dr Mahathir has returned to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) after his audience with the Agong at the Istana Negara.

He arrived at the PMO at 12.24pm in his official car bearing the license plate "Malaysia 2020".

The Langkawi Member of Parliament looked glum when waving to members of the media camped outside the PMO.

Dr Mahathir is expected to announce the Economic Stimulus Package 2020 at 3pm today.


While media personnel outside the Istana Negara anxiously waited and reported on latest developments on the nation’s political crisis, ProPhysic trainer Kamarul Izwan, 34, took the opportunity to get some reporters to take part in a 20-minute exercise session.

Kamarul, who had dropped by with a few other trainers, began by playing upbeat music before commencing the session.

About 25 media personnel joined the team in the workout, while others stood around and watched.

The session lasted about 25 minutes.


Dr Mahathir left his office in Putrajaya at 10.30am and has arrived at Istana Negara for an audience with the King.


Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali arrives at the Perdana Putra building and enters via the Protocol Gate, where she stops to distribute chocolates to members of the press camped outside.


Earlier this morning, Dr Mahathir arrived at his office at the Perdana Putra building in Putrajaya.
