Solid support for 2021 Budget from Pas MPs

KOTA BARU: Pas remains steadfast with its decision that all of its 18 members of Parliament (MP) will support the 2021 Budget.

Pas Youth deputy chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said there was no reason for Pas MPs as well as those from the opposition to reject the Budget which was aimed at helping the people and improve the country's economy.

"This is the time for all MPs to act as statesmen by putting aside their political differences and give priority to the people's interests.

"Therefore, Pas will definitely support the Budget which will be tabled on Nov 6," he said in a statement.

Ahmad Fadhli, who is also Pasir Mas MP, said when Pakatan Harapan was the government, their leaders had demanded all MPs to support their Budget saying it was for the wellbeing of the people.

"They had said MPs from the opposition should not reject the Budget as it was for the people.

"The same situation is happening now and there is no reason for them (the opposition MPs) to reject the Budget," he said.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today urged all MPs to set aside their political differences and give their full support to the 2021 Budget, saying various allocations would be provided to fight Covid-19 in the interests of the people and to revive the economy.

He said a form of agreement could be worked out among the lawmakers to enable the Budget to be passed with the support of MPs from both sides of the political divide.

Muhyiddin also gave an assurance that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government would continue to seek the best ways to manage this major crisis that the country was facing.
