Time may be right to establish PN presidential council, says Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR: It is probably high time for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government to form a presidential council, said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president.

In his policy speech at the 3rd Bersatu annual general assembly held virtually today, Muhyiddin said the presidential council would pave the way for more frequent meetings among the chiefs of the parties that form PN.

"Maybe the time has come for a Presidential Council, made up of party chiefs in PN, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah to be set up.

"Periodical meetings can be held to deliberate matters related to economy, education, social policies and others. This is important because not all party chiefs are in the cabinet.

"Through these meetings, each party chief can voice out the views of their respective parties on the primary government policies for the attention of the cabinet in making a decision," said Muhyiddin.
