Full support for Muhyiddin from Bersatu Johor and Terengganu

JOHOR BARU: Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has expressed its unwavering support for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to continue leading the government.

Johor Bersatu deputy chairman Senator Md Nasir Hashim said it also upholds the decree by Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

The King had previously called on all Members of Parliament (MPs) to give priority to efforts taken to safeguard the well-being of the people, as well as the agenda to combat Covid-19 in the ongoing special parliament sitting.

"Bersatu Johor would like to express its appreciation and thanks to MPs from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN), and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

"PBS and four independent MPs have also expressed unwavering support for Muhyiddin as prime minister. Bersatu Johor will continue to focus and be committed to continuing the agenda of defending the people and restoring the country's economy," he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Terengganu Bersatu has warned and urged the MPs to 'stop fishing in troubled waters' by elevating their agenda to become prime minister.

Its chief Senator Datuk Razali Idris said some MPs had condemned the action to destabilise the government.

"We urge all parties to remain calm, be united, and put aside politicking to enable the current government to steer the country out of the Covid-19 crisis, through the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

"The government has always upheld the King's decree and the Malay Rulers, which had, among others, stressed that the State of Emergency did not need to be extended beyond Aug 1, and for Parliament to reconvene," he said when contacted.

Yesterday, the King expressed disappointment over a statement made in the special Parliament sitting that the government has revoked the six Emergency Ordinances introduced during the State of Emergency.

This following a statement made by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, who had revealed during the special sitting that all of the ordinances were revoked on July 21.

However, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in a statement said the government's actions in revoking the Emergency Ordinances were according to the provisions of law and the Federal Constitution.

The statement also said the government constantly upheld the King and the Malay Rulers' decree in a special discussion between the Malay Rulers on June 16, which had, among others, stressed that the State of Emergency did not need to be extended beyond Aug 1, and for Parliament to reconvene.

Razali said the King's views and decrees will always be upheld, along with the Federal Constitution.

"We welcome the explanation which clearly showed that the revoking of the ordinance was done in an orderly manner following the Federal Constitution.

"As such Bersatu Terengganu fully supports the leadership of Muhyiddin, who has enough support in the Dewan Rakyat to continue to lead the country," he said.
