PKR polls see Farhash taking on Amirudin in Gombak

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Perak PKR chief, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, will face Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, for the PKR Gombak Branch chief position in the 2022 party polls.

He confirmed that he had submitted his nomination forms to contest the post yesterday.

So far, he said the fight for the branch post is only limited to two candidates.

"So far, only me and the Menteri Besar (Selangor)," he told BH, today.

Last February, Farhash, who is the former political secretary to PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, surprised everyone in expressing his intention to go for the PKR Gombak Branch chief seat which is currently held by Amirudin.

Farhash said he was asked to contest for the post by some grassroots members who wanted the party's rejuvenation before the 15th General Election (GE-15).

The move is also to enable PKR to recapture the Gombak parliamentary seat from its incumbent, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is now in Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Asked on his hope, Farhash said he wanted to win the post and unite PKR members and residents in Gombak.

"I want to organise work to help (PKR) members and the people," he said.

Gombak is one of the PKR branches that is the focus of this year's party's election, which will take place next month.

The nomination of candidates for the branch level was held for three days, starting last Friday, while for the party's six highest positions, namely President, Deputy President and four Vice Presidents, as well as highest leadership of PKR wings, it will be held tomorrow.

Yesterday, Menteri Besar of Negri Sembilan, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun announced he will contest for the Port Dickson PKR Branch chief post and will challenge the Deputy Chairman of the PKR Negeri Sembilan State Leadership Council (MPN), who is also the incumbent, Datuk M Ravi.
