KOTA KINABALU: Leaders of Sabah parties under Pakatan Harapan (PH) will meet following the recent change of leadership in Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
Sabah DAP's Chan Foong Hin said despite Tawau member of parliament Datuk Christina Liew remaining as Sabah PH chief, there was still a need for discussion among party members.
On Aug 8, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced Keningau division chief Datuk Sangkar Rasam as the Sabah PKR state leadership council chairman for the 2022-2025 term.
Sangkar replaced Liew, who had held the post since October 2016.
"For now, Sabah PH chairman is Datuk Christina Liew, but the four parties (PKR, DAP, Upko and Amanah) should have the meeting as soon as possible.
"This is to discuss the relationship and leadership of PH," he said at a press conference after distributing Sabah and Jalur Gemilang flags in Foh Sang here.
Present were DAP assemblymen Jannie Lasimbang (Kapayan), Tan Lee Fatt (Likas) and Phoong Jin Zhe (Luyang).
Jannie added that it was important for Sabah PH to work together in the run-up to the 15th General Election.
"Only through close cooperation will the four parties in Sabah win the election.
"Several key decisions have to be made, which is why we need to stress on the importance of working together," she said.
During the 14th General Election, Sabah DAP won three parliamentary seats: Tenom, Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu. Upko retained one seat in Tuaran and PKR had two seats in Tawau and Putatan.
