Pas to nominate well-liked, credible candidates in Perak for GE15

BAGAN SERAI: Perak Pas will field credible candidates who are liked by the local voters as its main recipe for victory for the Islamic party and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Perak Pas Commissioner Razman Zakaria said the candidates they will nominate in the 20 seats in the State Legislative Assembly were candidates who will lead Perikatan Nasional to victory.

"Perak has 40 seats with Malay majority and these seats have been distributed equally with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), while the other 19 seats will be contested by PN component partners.

"That's why all the candidates featured in GE15 must have a personality that is liked by the people in the state assembly seat to ensure a comfortable victory to form a stable government," he said.

He told this to reporters after attending the 2022 Masjid Emirate Youth Convoy Programme at Dewan Datuk Zainal Abidin Zin here today.

He said the distribution of seats had been completed one hundred percent, but the decision to determine it was up to the PN leadership.

In the meantime, Pas has hinted that all State Legislative Assembly seats in the Kerian District will be contested by Pas and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) to represent PN in GE15.

He said the five constituencies in the district are Gunung Semanggol, Selinsing, Alor Pongsu, Titi Serong and Kuala Kurau, comprising Malay majority voters.

"All these seats are majority Malay voters. That includes the seat in Dun Kuala Kurau," he said.

When asked whether Pas will also compete in the Bagan Serai parliamentary seat, he said it will be up to PN leadership to decide on the matter.

"If Pas does not contest in this parliamentary seat, it is like Pas not contesting in Trengganu and Kelantan," he said.
