Wan Ahmad Fayhsal: Tengku Zafrul and Liz Truss are the same

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has questioned the lack of taxes being imposed on the top 20 per cent (T20) segment in society.

While describing this as a "mistake" by the caretaker government, which is led by a Barisan Nasional (BN) prime minister, he said there is a need to include such taxes on the rich in the 2023 Budget.

"Where is the tax for the T20? What is the difference between Tengku Zafrul (Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz) and Liz Truss (former United Kingdom Prime Minister).

"He (Tengku Zafrul) did not show any new revenue stream apart from Petronas," said Wan Fayhsal in a special interview with Astro Awani last night.

The caretaker deputy national unity minister said Perikatan Nasional (PN) could table a better federal budget if it wins in the 15th General Election.

He said the the coalition will defend the rights of the people, while concentrating on development and welfare.

"We will fix the mistakes BN previously made," he added.

Nominations for the 15th General Election (GE15) will be on Nov 5, while polling is on Nov 19.
