GE15: I am not an unqualified doctor, says BN candidate for Pengkalan Chepa

KOTA BARU: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Pengkalan Chepa parliamentary constituency, Dr Mohd Hafiezulniezam Mohd Hasdin, has lodged a police report over claims that he is an unqualified doctor.

Dr Hafiezulniezam lodged the report at the district police headquarters here today.

The slander suggesting that he did not complete his medical studies started spreading on the social media on the eve of the nomination of candidates for the 15th General Election (GE15).

"The claims made against me are baseless. I pursued and completed my medical studies at a university in Indonesia in 2009.

"I believe that the person responsible for spreading such lies wanted to kill my political career as a BN candidate in GE15.

"I also believe such lies were spread with ill intention to distract me from focusing on my campaign trail for this election," he told reporters after he lodged the police report.

Dr Hafiezulniezam said he also submitted copies of supporting documents including his education certificate when he lodged the police report.

"I hope action will taken against the person who is responsible for spreading such lies," he said.

Dr Hafiezulniezam is going up against incumbent Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary of Pas.

Also throwing their hats in the ring in Pengkalan Chepa are Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's Wan Ahmad Nasri Wan Ismail, Nik Faizah Nik Othman of Pakatan Harapan and Mohd Redzuan Razali (independent).
