GE15: Dr M hopes to get Chinese support to get rid of 'bad people' in govt

ALOR STAR: Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) pro tem chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is hopeful of gaining support from the Chinese in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Dr Mahathir said he established the party, Pejuang, without including other races so he could go up against the Malays in Umno, which he described as an "evil party" due to numerous corruption scandals involving its leadership.

"Pejuang is a Malay party that is not anti-Chinese but is against Malays who are not righteous. And we want to topple that government in this election and establish a new government made up of people who are free of all kinds of criminal offences.

"We hope the Chinese will give their support. In Malaysia, there are areas where the Chinese are the majority and the Malays are the minority.

"There are areas where the Malays are the majority, the Chinese are the minority, so the Malays have split into four.

"If the Chinese support a party, that party will win. So I hope the Chinese will help GTA," he told reporters at a dialogue with the Chinese community in Pekan Cina here today.

Dr Mahathir also said he had met with many Chinese people from the local community and explained to them that Pejuang is a Malay party.

"I hope the Chinese will help GTA become the government and when we become the government we will get rid of the bad people who are there now.

"We will have a good government that adheres to the law and treats all races according to the Federal Constitution.

"We will establish a clean government and we will work until eventually Malaysia returns as an 'Asian Tiger' and at that time I am confident the Chinese, Malays, Indians will all be treated well and business can be conducted without interruption," he added.
