"Don't take Umno for granted," Annuar Musa tells Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: A senior Umno leader has asked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to appoint Umno members into his cabinet based on party hierarchy and its leadership's approval.

Ketereh Umno division chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said Anwar should not take Umno for granted when deciding his cabinet line-up or "partially accept" the party's participation in his unity government.

"Umno, through the party's supreme council's decision, promptly gave our support to join the unity government.

"Therefore, the party's decision should be respected by Umno members as well as Anwar, who leads the unity government," he wrote on Facebook today.

Annuar was the second Umno leader to emphasise on party hierarchy in the appointment of the new cabinet. Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan made a similar call on Sunday.

Despite numerous calls to exclude the "court cluster" from his new cabinet, Anwar, on Monday said he would let the Federal Constitution "take the lead" on the matter.
