Umno confirms sacking of 3 party leaders

PONTIAN: Umno confirms Ketereh Umno division chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa is one of the three party members sacked during its supreme council meeting last night.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said Umno supreme council under clause 10.6 of the party constitution has the right to terminate any of its members.

He said this included if an Umno member was proven to have violated clause 20.9 of the party constitution as well as its code of conduct.

"Two other members sacked were Arau Wanita chief and wife of Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Datin Seri Shamsiah Md Yassin, and also Maran Wanita chief Datin Seri Fatimah Kassim, who is also the wife of Maran incumbent Datuk Seri Ismail Muttalib.

"Their dismissal is effective immediately with the official membership termination letter to be sent today," he said after visiting the Khatan Perdana Masjid Kampung Jawa Ulu programme, here, today.

Earlier, the media reported that Annuar, Shamsiah and Fatimah were the three Umno leaders sacked, which was decided during last night's supreme council meeting.

Shamsiah and Fatimah last month were reported to have been temporarily suspended from their positions after being discovered to be directly or indirectly involved in supporting candidates from opposing parties in the 15th General Election.

Meanwhile, Annuar was previously vocal in criticising the leadership of Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, particularly regarding the new alliance between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan.

It was also reported that supreme council member Datuk Puad Zarkashi was informed of the dismissal when met by the media at Menara Dato' Onn after the meeting.
