Kit Siang on 'green tide': Invincible or just a fluke?

KUALA LUMPUR: The state elections in Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah will determine whether the "green tide" in the 15th General Election (GE15) is invincible or merely a fluke.

DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang said this following the victory of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the Padang Serai parliamentary constituency on Wednesday.

An analysis of the three parliamentary seats won by PN in Penang — two by Pas and one by Bersatu — showed that the combined votes for the parties in the unity government exceeded those for PN, he said in a statement today.

"I have never been a believer in the inevitability of any movement, even since the 1950s in the last century when there were those who believed in the inevitability of Communism."

The former Iskandar Puteri member of parliament stressed the future of the "green tide" would depend on whether effective measures are taken to end the toxic politics of lies, fear, hate, race and religion, and whether the unity government could make Malaysia great again.
