PH-BN seat allocations to be finalised soon, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said seat negotiations between parties in the unity government for the upcoming state elections are expected to be finalised soon.

"We are in the process of finalising it (seat distributions for the upcoming six state elections) soon.

"We have nevertheless made good progress," Anwar told reporters after chairing the unity government secretariat meeting at Menara Dato Onn here today.

This is the second meeting, convened by the secretariat. The first one was last month.

Also present at tonight's meeting was Deputy Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Anwar, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and PKR president, said the matter involving seats distribution were not discussed in details at tonight's meeting.

"We did not discuss the matter in details.

"This is because negotiations are still on-going among committees representing political coalitions (aligned with the unity government)," he said.

It was reported earlier that development on seats negotiation between parties in the unity government would be among the items discussed in tonight's meeting.
