Newly-elected Pas Youth chief imitates Anwar during ceramah

SHAH ALAM: The newly-elected Pas Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden impersonated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his speech during a grand ceramah at the party's 69th Muktamar (general assembly).

In front of more than 500 people, Afnan, who is also Alor Star federal lawmaker used Anwar's trademark style while incorporating complex Malay phrases such as "tatakelola" (governance) and "cerakin" (dissect) alongside the prime minister's intonation.

"If he walks the talk, we don't have any problems, but that is not the case," he said as he drew laughter from the crowd here at Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) tonight.

Criticising the current Cabinet members, Afnan called them incompetent as he claimed that some of the ministers were occupied with other things rather than focusing on their portfolio and responsibility.

He cited Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing kerfuffle in Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution tried to intimidate Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Sanusi Md Nor prior to the state election, as well as Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil tried to intimidate people who go against the government.

"What's the point of being a government if you keep intimidating your own people," he added.

He claimed the government has weaponised the race, religion, and royal (3R) to threaten the people who does not support the current federal administration.

Afnan, who won the position uncontested, replaced Pasir Salak MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari as the latter decided not defend his post during the party election which coincides with the Muktamar.

The decision was announced by the chairman of the party election for the Pas' 69th Muktamar, Professor Datuk Dr Ab Halim Tamuri.
