Azizi's move to declare support to PM does not mean he left the party, says Tuan Ibrahim

KOTA BARU: The decision by Gua Musang member of Parliament Mohd Azizi Abu Naim to declare his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the unity government does not mean he has left the party that he represented.

Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said he believed Mohd Azizi would remain as a Perikatan Nasional (PN) MP.

However, he said Azizi's statement has suprised Pas.

"Pas is surprised with Azizi's announcement because he is one of Bersatu candidates contesting under our party's ticket in the 15th General Election.

"Pas had even prepared a lawyer to defend him when Barisan Nasional made a petition to challlenge the result of the election and we have put all our energy to ensure his victory in the last state election.

"Bersatu has high confident in his position and I understand that he had always attended the party's meetings and told them that he will continue to support PN.

"Whatever the internal affairs in Bersatu, we are sure they have their own programmes.

"What is clear is that the decision does not mean that Aziz will leave the party. I believe he will remain with PN," he said.

The Kubang Kerian MP said Pas would leave it to Bersatu to handle the issue.

Meanwhile, efforts to interview Azizi since early today proved futile as he had switched off his handphone.

Azizi, who is also the Nenggiri assemblyman, in a statement posted on his Facebook page, said the move to support the prime minister had to be done for the sake and betterment of the people in his constituency.
