Bersatu open to collaborating with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah in next Sabah state polls

SHAH ALAM: Bersatu is not ruling out collaborating with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the next Sabah state election.

This, said Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, was due to the changing dynamics in politics which could lead to the party cooperating with any quarters.

"We must also acknowledge that anything is possible in politics and we don't know what will happen (in the future).

"Anything can also happen until the next Sabah election takes place next year or until the state assembly dissolves in 2025.

"However, I can assure you that Perikatan Nasional (PN), especially Bersatu, will contest in Sabah," he said when met by reporters on the second day of Bersatu annual general assembly (AGM).

Kiandee said this when asked whether Bersatu was ready to cooperate with GRS for the upcoming state election.

This comes after Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin reportedly said last week that there were possibilities that Umno Sabah would cooperate with Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Rakyat for the upcoming state election.

Bung, however, said it was still too early to make a decision on the matter as Sabah Umno was focusing on strengthening the party first.

Meanwhile, GRS dropped Bersatu as a coalition member in December last year.
