Bersatu AGM unanimously rejects Muhyiddin's decision to not defend his post

SHAH ALAM: Bersatu annual general assembly (AGM) today passed a motion rejecting the decision of its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, to not defend his post.

The motion was unanimously passed by the delegates and was announced by Bersatu permanent chairman Datuk Muhammad Suhaimi Abdullah on the final day of the party's AGM, today.

The delegates also passed two other motions relating to the matter, which are the motion to reject its supreme council members from holding meetings to discuss potential candidates for Muhyiddin's predecessors, as well as the current assembly to be Muhyiddin's final one as a president.

"We have listened to all debates and speeches on the president's policy speech from the delegates, wing representatives, as well as students representatives.

"Majority of the debates support the president's policy speech. However, there are several matters that they have rejected.

"These motions include Muhyiddin's decision not to defend his post; meetings to discuss the next candidate for president; and the assembly being his (Muhyiddin's) final one," he said.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin announced his decision to not defend his position as the president during the party's election scheduled to be held next year.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Perikatan Nasional chairman said the time for him to let go of the position has come.

Later on, Bersatu supreme council members held an emergency meeting to discuss the decision made by Muhyiddin and unanimously rejected the latter's decision to not defend his post.
