'Muhyiddin is the one stuck in the dead-end,' says Adam Adli

PUTRAJAYA: PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim has chided Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin over the latter's critique of the government's economic policy.

In a press conference today, Adam said the government, led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has laid out the foundation for the country's economic trajectory that would address the nation's structural issues.

"I feel that he's (the one who is) stuck, which is why he won't continue in the position (as president) next year; he's at a dead end with nothing to attack.

"We've done everything from the beginning to the end, presented the budget, conducted a midterm review before that, the Madani economic framework, everything is clear—we've laid out the most basic things, structural matters.

"I deliberately calculated for Tan Sri Muhyiddin to bring up things that please himself," he told the reporters at the PKR Wings Annual National Congress at Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC), here.

Citing the debate between Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli and Muhyiddin in the Dewan Rakyat, Adam said that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman exhausted all his rational points and ended up raising trivial matters just for the sake of rebutting.

"Even in the recent session in the assembly with the economy minister, he shifted the goalposts. The original question changed, additional questions changed because he... we consider him stuck, not knowing what to ask, not knowing what to oppose or challenge," he added.

Adam's statement came as a response towards Muhyiddin's speech yesterday at Bersatu assembly, in which the latter said that Anwar does not have a clear goal regarding the country's economic growth and fair and equitable wealth distribution for all citizens.

Moreover, Muhyiddin claimed that the Madani Economy failed to present a definitive commitment to developing the Bumiputera community.

Muhyiddin, who served as the Prime Minister between 2020 and 2021, stated that the economic recovery process is still slow even though the threat of Covid-19 has subsided, and all economic sectors have been reopened.
