Kemaman by-election: Put aside political ideologies when picking candidate in Kemaman, says Umno sec-gen to voters

KEMAMAN: Voters must set aside political ideologies by giving Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, who is representing the unity government, the mandate to represent their voices in the Kemaman parliamentary seat by-election on Dec 2.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki Asyraf believes there should be at least one representative in Terengganu who can speak for the people here and the decision lies in the hands of the voters.

He said four state seats (Air Putih, Kemasik, Kijal, and Chukai) under the Kemaman parliamentary seat were already led by Pas and the state funds had been disbursed.

"If a Barisan Nasional member of parliament represents the unity government then Kemaman people will receive two huge rewards, the aid from the state government and assistance from the unity government.

"Never before in the history of Malaysia, an individual from Terengganu became the armed forces chief and the person from Kemaman has returned to serve the people.

"If I am from Kemaman, we will certainly put aside our political ideology and vote for a leader whom I trust in Terengganu… a representative who can represent the voice of the people in Kemaman," he said during the special by-election interview titled "Don't believe slander" today.

Meanwhile, Asyraf said the people here had three years to benefit from a BN and unity government representative should Raja Mohamed Affandi win the by-election on Dec 2.

"People of Kemaman, people of Terengganu are wise and if BN or Raja Mohamed Affandi secures victory but fails to keep to his promises… aid or allocations from the Federal does not arrive, then bring in the changes.

"Change during the 16th general election which is within the next three or four years… in fact, I am confident our best candidate will have no issues and will be well received by the people, and community," he said.

The Kemaman parliamentary seat by-election on Dec 2 is a straight fight between Raja Mohamed Affandi and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar from Perikatan Nasional.

The by-election was called following the decision of the Terengganu Election Court on Sept 26 to annul the victory of Pas candidate Che Alias Hamid in the 15th General Election (GE15).
