Retain victory in next GE to ensure people's agenda can continue: Nurul Izzah

PUTRAJAYA: Unity government parties must maintain victory in the next General Election (GE) to ensure that the agenda planned for the good of the people can continue to be implemented, says PKR vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar.

She said the momentum should begin with the Sabah State Election which could be called as early as next year.

"Our first (GE) victory was snatched away through the Sheraton Move (in 2020) and this victory (establishment of the unity government) was achieved through collaboration.

"So we cannot continue with our agenda if we do not remain victorious in the next election, including the one in Sabah," she said during the winding-up session at the 2023 PKR Annual National Congress at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here, today.

Nurul Izzah, who is also the chairman of the PKR State Leadership Council (MPN) of Perlis, Kedah and Penang, said party members should also prevent the culture of slander, not only from outside but also within PKR, as it could "kill" the success of the party built up over the years.

"If we can have good faith in the opposing party, why not with each other?" she said.

Nurul Izzah said PKR's struggle for the past 25 years was also in line with Islamic teachings that fought for the rights of the people and rejected tyranny. — BERNAMA
