Kemaman by-election: Dr Sam casually stops at BN operations centre in Kemaman

KEMAMAN: Just hours before the Kemaman parliamentary seat by-election campaigning period ends, Perikatan Nasional candidate Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar did what probably no political contender has ever done.

The Terengganu menteri besar, who is fondly known as Dr Sam, set aside political differences and stopped by Barisan Nasional's polling district operations centre.

There, he mingled with his rival's election machinery personnel and supporters.

He shared several images on Facebook with the caption "differences in political ideology is no reason for us to display displeasure.

"Ukhwah (brotherhood in Islam) among Muslims must be maintained. Compete healthily. Green or blue, everyone remains Terengganu people," he wrote.

Meanwhile, in a pre-recorded video posted on the Terengganu Pas Facebook page, Samsuri called upon voters to exercise their duty to choose an elected representative tomorrow.

The Pas vice-president emphasised that Dec 2 (polling day) was an important date for all registered voters.

"I humbly call on voters in Kemaman particularly to go out to vote and exercise their rights to make a choice. For outstation voters, either those living near the border (Kemaman), Kuala Lumpur, Penang and so on, come back to fulfill your rights.

"Drive safely and have a safe trip back to your respective destinations. Perform your right (to vote) to send out a clear message to our country," he said in the one-minute and 52-second video.

The Kemaman parliamentary seat by-election tomorrow is a straight fight between Samsuri and Barisan Nasional's General (Rtd) Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor.
